Our Story

My name is Jonathan Baird and I would like to tell you about KnuLease (pronounced new-lease) and how fortunate I am to bring this product to market.

My involvement with KnuLease started with a very enthusiastic phone call from my father, Richard K. Baird, in December of 2008. He has been a practicing veterinarian located in Pennsylvania for over thirty-six years. In addition to attending to his patients, he has been involved with many entrepreneurial endeavors. To name just a few pertinent one he was president of a pet food company, a nutritional consultant for various companies and has created his own nutritional products for dogs and cats with therapeutic levels of certain substances that just cannot be purchased (by the average consumer) anywhere else in the world.

For over 25 years, my father has not only been providing products to dogs and cats with therapeutic levels of Omega 3 fatty acids, sometimes in tandem with glucosamine, but he has also been observing and tracking the clinical results of various formulations. We all know now the benefits of Omega 3's. I was taking Omega 3's in College over 15 years ago. Way before it was popular.

His products, the KnuBars and the KnuBoost Bars are successfully used in his hospital by his patients for many reasons, one of which is for pain management. Because of my dad's experience and success with KnuBars, my father was approached by Dr. Ray Heinicke in the summer of 2008 to see if he would perform a clinical trial to evaluate an unusual naturally occurring substance, that may be of value to pets for pain management. The trial was to evaluate if EMP (Eggshell Membrane Powder) increased joint mobility and how did it fare vs. glucosamine.

The trial was completed by January 2009, with overwhelmingly positive results. The trial was conducted on 60 dogs, of which over 85% of owners stated they wanted their pets to continue on the EMP product for the rest of their pet's lives. Pets in the late years of their lives—who previously had trouble getting up and down stairs, walking and running, and experienced daily pain—are now able to maneuver and function as they once were years ago, all with phenomenal pain reduction. As you can see in the video testimonials some owners were at the point of considering "putting down" their beloved pets until the amazing rebound the pet achieved, improved mobility, more active, once again a part of family activities, all due to participating in Dr. Baird's eggshell membrane trial.

The results were so amazing that my father decided to start taking EMP himself, as did Dr. Heinicke. They too were experiencing positive results and our phone call in December 2008 did not end until he had agreed to send some of the EMP to me. Obviously, this did not occur until after my father had consulted with different scientist, the FDA and human pathologists. EMP is an approved human supplement without any restrictions whatsoever, though erring on the side of caution we suggest you consult your physician if you have a known egg allergy.

If you know me you know I play a lot of Beach Volleyball. From the moment I started playing volleyball I've had shoulder pain. I went to an orthopedic specialist and I was put into physical therapy and given a series of exercises. I was also told that I had a genetic defect and that I probably wouldn't get rid of the pain without surgery but that the stronger my shoulder was the less it would hurt. I worked out for about six months and there is no doubt that it helped. But the pain never went away entirely. During this period of time I was consuming massive amounts of Ibuprofen.

I started taking KnuLease the week after the Steelers won superbowl XLIII. Within four days I was feeling good. It's hard to describe. I just felt better. I had more energy and getting out of bed in the morning was a lot easier. About two weeks after starting on KnuLease I had a set of circumstances where I played volleyball for numerous hours a day 4 days in a row. And I didn't have a problem doing it. Previously I certainly would have needed a day in between to recuperate. In addition to the increased amount of volleyball I was playing, I also started working out again heavily. Without the normal aches and pains I was used to it was easy to get motivated to work out. By the time May came around and our summer tournament season started, I was off the Ibuprofen and I was for the first time experiencing no pain in my shoulder. I knew then that I had to bring this to market and share it with all of you.

I feel so lucky to have a product I believe in, a product validated by my father and myself through our own use as well as his clinical trials on pets from his veterinarian practice and to have a chance to make a positive difference in potentially millions of lives.
